It was only meant to be a small gathering of close family and friends.. famous last words said by mwah, similar to those words I am sure we have all muttered “its not going to be a big night- just one more drink”
You know how the rest unfolds.
The night was really just a thank you to some pretty special people. A thank you foremost to my stockists in NSW, VIC and The Iconic for taking on this Spring collection.
Its all fun and games designing and making headpieces, but its a whole new level when other people also share your vision enough to then want to sell through their stores.
The night was also an opportunity for me to say thank to all those who have been involved in my Millinery journey to date, and to also meet the friendly faces behind those emails and phone calls.
Those who know me well, know that I never do anything by halves, which is probably how this night turned into what seemed like my wedding.. minus the husband.
Fresh from Melbourne Spring Fashion week was the draw dropping Dj – Lauren Mac who kept the vibe alive during the night while guests sipped on cocktails made by a couple of hot bartenders. AKA two trainers at my local F45 Gym. (Sorry ladies I think they’re taken)
It is safe to say that my Dad stole the show. Him and his high vis vest. Those who attended the event would remember him as the guy that stood at the entrance of the carpark, in his High Vis, taking his job very seriously as (in dads words) “The face of the launch- the first contact that people have when they arrive at the event. You need this to be memorable Heather” and memorable it was. Dad.. his high vis directing people into the venue and when the night faded in..out came Dads torch. Did I mention that he took his job seriously?!
And thats why we all fell in love with Dad, Tony, or Tones as it became after a few drinks.
Tones who was also completely out of his comfort zone in a world far removed from the potato paddocks of Tasmania. But was the guy who walked around chatting to everyone, calling everyone by their first names and carrying with him the biggest smile on his face.
There were plenty of smiles that night, and a few tears..
I wish to thank everyone who was able to make it to the launch and for helping me make the night so special.
I wish to also thank ELLIATT who without them this collaboration would not be possible. It is amazing to think that one year ago today, I was having a design meeting with Katie from ELLIATT.. and then now seeing these designs come to life.
A HUGE thank you to my special people for their ongoing love and support, it is at times overwhelming- you are the wind beneath my wings.
Here are a few photos of the night, and I look forward to bringing you an even more amazing collection next year.
All my love
