It’s official ladies, one of the major trends of 2016 is the off the shoulder silhouette. From voluminous sleeves on pretty tops, to glamorous tight fitting cocktail dresses, exposed shoulders are here to stay.
Whilst this classic silhouette is no new discovery (In fact it’s older than Australia’s federation, wow), the New York and Paris fashion weeks of 2016 saw the trend skyrocket into the must have look.
Brands such as Chanel, Hugo Boss and Edun gave the cold shoulder on the runways of Paris, making the trend a wardrobe essential for the season to come.
Back home brands such as Keepsake the Label, Alice McCall, Maurie and Eve, Faithful the Brand and MLM the Label, have all given their take on the classy look.
The off the shoulder look is the perfect mix between sexy and sweet with a hint of mystery. Not only is it sexy without showing too much off, but did I mention that it’s flattering. I mean look at those collarbones! Tell me what woman doesn’t have a great décolletage to show off?
How to wear the off the shoulder look for any occasion:
For a special night out on the town, Keepsake’s Two Fold Maxi Dress is the perfect look. With romantic ruffles and a soft tone of dusty pink, this off the shoulder dress is feminine and flattering to every woman.
For day drinks by the harbour or festival vibes, Alice McCall’s Time Paradise Playsuit oozes a fun and flirty style. The sheer fabric with petal appliqué and the soft draping from the neckline to the sleeves makes this the prettiest playsuit.
For a more relaxed everyday look, Faithful the Brands Marfia Top in French Blue Linen lets you go from walking the streets of Mykonos to the comfort of your neighbourhood. Dress with white shorts and sandals for a weekend by the beach.
Heather McDowall’s Spirited Collection is now available in store at Bertie Land Boutique and across stores in NSW and Victoria.
