It’s no secret that here at Heather McDowall we are loving the Sydney based label White Closet. The wholesale based business has taken the fashion world by storm, creating beautiful and affordable collections tailoring to all women. We sat down with Head Designer Dylan Cooper to talk fashion, who is the White Closet girl and of course Spring Racing.
Hi Dylan, Thank you so much for being apart of this interview. Firstly, can you tell us a little bit about White Closet?
White Closet is an Australian womens fashion label based in Sydney. We design multiple collections a year which focus on high street trends. White Closet caters to a variety of tastes and women of different ages from casual everyday pieces to more directional occasion wear.
How did you become involved with White Closet?
I’ve been working for White Closet for a while now as the head designer and have begun to expand and influence a lot of the new collections we’ve recently developed over the past 12months.
Can you tell us who is the White Closet girl?
The White Closet girl is very versatile, she has an appreciation of fashion and likes to dress for a lot of different occasions. She demands a wardrobe which spans across fashionable pieces including everyday items to more vibrant runway inspired garments and desk to dinner attire.
Looking at the your official Instagram page, there is continually new styles being added every day. How long is the process from design to production to retail?
At White Closet we are very conscious of fashion trends and also the ever changing needs and desires of our customers. For us its so important to keep up with whats popular and always give our girls the most current and up to date look thats happening on a global stage.
Where does the inspiration for the seasons come from?
Every season our inspiration is different we like to collect our ideas from a combination of sources like seasonal trends and celebrities to social influencers and locations we visit.
As you are mainly a wholesale based business, how important is social media such as Facebook and Instagram to your business?
For us we work as a wholesale based business so our collections are sold to retailers and boutiques exclusively throughout Australia and overseas. A lot of our products are available online though our suppliers who buy our exclusive collection regularly. We like to keep up with social media especially Instagram because this allows our customers to see and experience whats happening in house and what we are offering to boutiques and online retailers.
Finally, you have a great selection of outfits for the Spring Races. What do you think is important when styling for the Spring Races?
My approach to spring racing is always fresh and vibrant. I love when the winter passes and we enter the warmer seasons its always exciting to start showing more skin and experimenting with soft vibrant colours and more pastel shades after wearing so many deeper tones over the colder months. I think florals and delicate prints are also something thats very relevant season after season when this time of the year rolls around.
