the Edit is a curated collection showcasing Australian made designers only. Some of Heathers products have been made in China (straw hats), and this doesn’t align with the mission and purpose of the Edit. Heather McDowall products are separate from the Edit
What is a Heather McDowall product?
Hats and Headpieces. Heather McDowall products can be viewed under the category of Accessories, Hats or Headpieces.

Who makes Heather McDowall products?
Heather does! Some hats/headpieces are hand made by Heather in her Sydney studio and others made in China. There are a few styles of hats which the base is made in China and Heather adds the finishing touches.
Does HM have any physical stores where I can go and try on the headpieces?
We are proud to say we are purely an online store. Sydney based residents are invited to make an appointment with Heather and try on any pieces prior to purchase. For your peace of mind we offer 14 day returns. If you purchase a headpiece/hat and it doesn’t fit/suit you, provided the swing tag is attached, we are happy to refund the purchase price.
How do I place a custom made order?
Availabilities for custom made orders are extremely limited. Simply send us an email hello@heathermcdowall.com or a DM on Instagram/Facebook. If Heather can’t assist with your custom order, she will certainly recommend other Milliners in her network that would love to help. Sharing is caring.
What are the different sizes of headpieces?
All headpieces attached to a headband are a one size fits all. The sizing for hats can be found in the product description. This will be referred to as the Crown measurement.
SHIPPING AND DELIVERY:
Do you offer International Shipping?
At the moment we only ship within Australia. If you are an international customer wishing to place an order, please send us an email hello@heathermcdowall.com and we can arrange delivery to you.
How long does a domestic shipping usually take?
All orders are shipped express. Please check our Shipping and Delivery Policy for delivery times within Australia.
Can I change order details/cancel once it has been placed?
Please send us an email hello@heathermcdowall.com as soon as you can with your request. Due to our efficiency, there is no guarantee we haven’t already shipped your order. Please make sure you take care when entering your order details.
How can I track my order?
Once your order has been processed a shipment advice email will be sent to you. This will include tracking information for your parcel and estimated delivery date.
RETURNS AND EXCHANGES:
Can I return or exchange sale items?
We don’t offer refunds on sale items.
How do I know if my product is eligible for return?
If for some reason you are not satisfied with your purchase, we are happy to provide an exchange, online credit or refund subject to the conditions below:
- The item(s) must be returned within 14 days of delivery. Returns after this date will not be accepted.
- Your item(s) must be unworn and in its original condition with all tags attached.
- There are strictly no refunds on sale items. Sale items can only be returned for an online credit note or exchange only
How do I process a return?
Please fill out the Returns Form included in your original package or download another form here. The headpiece must be shipped back in its original packaging and shipping box.
Return shipping costs are payable by the customer and Heather McDowall is not responsible for lost parcels. We recommend obtaining a tracking number for all return parcels as proof of shipping

How will I be refunded for a return and when will I receive the refund?
Refunds can only be made to the original method of payment. Refunds to credit/debit cards may take 3-5 business days to appear in your account.
If you made your purchase with AfterPay, we will cancel any future payments and AfterPay will refund any payments already processed.
Full priced items purchased with a promotional discount code applied are still eligible for a refund, unless otherwise stated in the terms and conditions of the promotion.

What do I do if the items I’ve received are faulty?
The highest level of construction methods and care are taken during the making of each individual Heather McDowall piece. Where you believe an item is faulty it must be returned within 14 days of purchase. The item will be assessed and repaired/replaced and shipped to you free of charge.
The item must be sent in original packaging as to not cause any further damage. Return postage costs are the responsibility of the customer.

We are proud to say that all products on the Edit are Australian made. You can learn more about the production process in the ‘About the Designer’ tab when you shop.
SHIPPING AND DELIVERY:
How long is the shipping time for Edit products?
All purchases via the Edit are shipped by the Designer. Please check the ‘Delivery Exchanges & Returns’ tab for details on individual shipping policy.
Is international shipment available for The Edit Designers?
We are looking at broadening shipping in the future, however, at the moment we only ship within Australia.
How can I track my order?
Once your order has been processed a “shipment advice” email will be sent to you which will include tracking information for your parcel and estimated delivery date.
Am I able to cancel my order?
All garments are made to order, please notify us ASAP if you wish to cancel your purchase. We cannot guarantee a refund as the product may have already commenced production stage.
